Regional Brand & Training Rep

General Description:

 The Regional Brand & Training Rep will contribute to driving retail training efforts, increasing brand awareness amongst consumers, retailers and executing regional events throughout the territory.  This position will collaborate with the Sales, Brand and Category Teams to develop and implement a comprehensive go-to-market plan for their territory in alignment with the company’s strategic marketing and sales objectives.  This position will perform field promotion activities to sell and develop new business, as well as, work closely with retail accounts to ensure the Yakima brand is properly positioned at retail by evaluating and making recommendations regarding our customers’ merchandising, inventory and product mix, as well as developing new customer leads within the territory.  In addition, this position will execute key in-field consumer activities to help drive brand preference.

 

Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates and executes consumer and customer events to increase brand awareness, drive increased sales and strengthen dealer relationships
  • Delivers retail clinics for specialty and independent dealers to educate these customers on Yakima’s products and services while building brand loyalty and driving sales
  • Works in conjunction with the Category team to create excitement about new product launches while providing critical feedback to existing and future product programs
  • Works in conjunction with the regional sales director and independent rep agencies to identify and drive profitable growth opportunities within their territory
  • Contributes and supports profitable growth opportunities within the region/territory
  • Administers Yakima policies at assigned accounts
  • Communicates “voice of the customer” into the organization while acting as an interface between our dealers, sales, consumer marketing, product development and supply chain

 

Specific Duties:

  • Execute on-site sales, installs, product education and shop promotions for in-store customers when applicable
  • Plan, coordinate and execute Yakima field marketing events while serving as the on-site technical specialist
  • Implement regional and territory business plans to drive sales in existing channels and retail accounts
  • Establish, maintain and build strong customer relationships with an emphasis on strategic accounts
  • Canvas prospective new accounts and develop sales leads for regional sales directors and outside rep force
  • Review, audit and make recommendations to Yakima dealers based on inventory levels, product mix, and regional best-selling products
  • Keep customers abreast of products, sales programs, technical service, market conditions, advertising and promotional activities in their marketplace
  • Generate consumer leads for Yakima and it partners for direct marketing activities
  • Perform a variety of retail training and education clinics onsite at specialty outdoor, independent dealers, specialty rack installers and distributors
  • Assess and evaluate merchandising displays taking corrective actions as appropriate
  • Distribute Yakima promotional sales and marketing materials
  • Keeps abreast of products, applications, technical service, market and competitive conditions, and advertising and promotional activities in the marketplace communicating information to the Regional Sales Director
  • Recommends to Category Director and Events and Training Manager product lines by identifying new product opportunities, and/or product, packaging, and service changes; surveying consumer needs and trends; tracking competitors
  • Maintain specific social media activities as defined by Brand Manager
  • Prepare, draft & and submit via online reporting system event reports, retail reports, photos, competitive information and account recommendations
  • Track & manage budget via bi-weekly expense reports
  • Attend, conduct and work at various national and rep agency trade events
  • Responsible for the cleaning & regular maintenance of marketing vehicle to ensure a professional and quality brand impact
  • Adhere to required health and safety regulations and practices
  • Carry out other duties, responsibilities, and projects as may be assigned by the Category or Brand Team, in an effective manner

 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited college/university in Marketing, Business or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years sales, retail training and/or field marketing experience mandatory
  • Intermediate level with P.C.’s:  specifically Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Written and oral skills:  English mandatory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent management and administrative skills
  • Experience in effectively prioritizing and managing work
  • Knowledge and experience working with and selling Yakima products preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and public speaking skills
  • Independent, creative, self-starter with the ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Cycling, ski/ snowboard, paddling and general outdoor experience a plus
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally without restrictions

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Domestic travel as required, approximately 60% of time, primarily March through September
  • Must be able to work from the road for a minimum of 6-week increments
  • Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for periods of time
  • Able to perform general office and administrative duties:  copying, filing, using a telephone, etc.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, stretch and reach on a daily basis
  • Able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently
  • Must have corrected vision to 20/20
  • Must be able to travel via commercial carrier
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings as required
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record
