On June 25th, Prosper Portland staff attended the opening of the Portland SBS Zipper office, the company’s first outpost in the United States. Zhaoquan Ding, SBS Chairman, said that Portland was the clear choice for the company’s first U.S. office due to the concentration of athletic and outdoor brands in the city. The company recently announced a development partnership with St3ms, an innovative start up founded by two former Nike and Columbia Sportswear materials innovation team members, that produces performance textiles from banana plant waste.
SBS, a Chinese manufacturer, is the second largest zipper manufacturer in the world. Their office and a small showroom are housed at the CENTRL West End space.
