This June, Made in Old Town (MiOT) is debuting a new materials library and opening membership for individuals, students, and businesses.
Materials Library: Material science and technology has an outsized importance in the footwear and apparel industry: materials define our products and their impact. That’s why Made in Old Town is dedicating an entire 10,000 square foot floor of the Made in Old Town tower to creating the largest open materials library in the country.
The materials library will feature an unparalleled collection of cutting edge, exotic, high-performance materials, as well as the standard workhorse materials you need every day. It’s a place for inspiration and for action.
Members of Made in Old Town will be able to reserve space in the library to showcase their materials for brands to evaluate and incorporate into their new product innovation. In that way, the library is a perfect complement to the sample floor, where footwear innovators will be using new materials to create fully functional shoes and garments.
The materials library floor will have over 4800 square feet of display storage. The cost of membership for suppliers includes their first two linear feet, with options to rent up to ten linear feet at an additional monthly cost.
A library at this size and scale, adjacent to a sample floor and testing lab, will both accelerate speed-to-market and enhance innovation capacity.
Made in Old Town is opening memberships for 2026! Sign up between June 2 – June 30 to access a world-class product creation campus in the heart of Portland. Capacity is limited.
