PORTLAND, Oregon (October 14, 2013)–
NW Alpine, manufacturer of American-made climbing apparel introduced today the Fast/Light Jacket, a men’s soft shell jacket for alpine climbing.
The Fast/Light Jacket was designed to be simple and functional with a non-restrictive fit and high level of breathability to serve the specific needs of alpine climbers during this high output activity.
The streamlined jacket features an athletic, climbing-specific cut, adjustable helmet-compatible hood, inner stretch glove pockets and zippered chest pocket. It’s made with Tweave Durastretch® fabric which is 92% nylon and 8% Spandex, to provide superior freedom of movement, while being exceptionally sturdy, yet lightweight (22 oz.). It’s both water and wind resistant.
“The Fast/Light Jacket just makes sense. It’s what we’ve been waiting for,” said Portland climber Marcus Donaldson. “They stripped away all of the unnecessary chaff and what remains is a rugged, simple workhorse of a soft shell. The burly fabric can handle thrutching up ice-choked chimneys or shouldering a razor-sharp ice tool on a mixed project. It’s warm enough to insulate but plenty breathable for approaches, simul-climbing and moving fast over alpine terrain. Above all the cut is a real, technical fit: made to work with packs, harnesses and tools of the trade.”
“The jacket is super sleek and designed to move with you when you climb,” said Bill Amos, founder of NW Alpine. “Our goal is to provide alpine climbers with high quality products manufactured in the USA that serve their core needs and I’m confident this will be a go-to alpine climbing soft shell.”
The Men’s Fast/Light Jacket is available in black and comes in Men’s S-XL. It retails for $220. For more information and specs visit www. https://nwalpine.com/ or call 503-208-5775.
