Celebrating Community with Five New Products, Five Chances to Win, & Five High Fives
PORTLAND, OR, January 13, 2014 – Walnut Studio, known for high-quality, handmade leather and wood cycling accessories, celebrates their five-year anniversary in 2014 with “Gimme Five!”, an interactive community building campaign.
From January to October, the small Portland, Oregon based company will introduce five innovative new products along with a series of five playful “virtual high five” videos and five chances to win one of five unique prizes throughout the year, culminating in an anniversary party in the latter half of 2014 in Portland.
The five new products will be introduced one every other month, and each product release will be accompanied by a video of Walnut’s owners, husband and wife team Geoffrey and Valerie Franklin, demonstrating how they high-five. “It’s really important to us to reach out to our customers and thank them for helping us to grow and learn. We began our business as a small experiment, offering just one product on Etsy, and have grown into a thriving small business, shipping our products all over the world. We get to do what we love every day and if it wasn’t for the support of our customers: their purchases, positive feedback, word of mouth recommendations and inclusion in their communities, we wouldn’t be here,” says owner and designer Geoffrey Franklin.
Co-owner, Valerie Franklin shares the inspiration for the campaign, “For us, the idea of a virtual high-five is something we do every day – our products go from our hands to yours. To celebrate our fifth year in business, we really wanted to drive that idea home by acting out a series of high-fives for the benefit of our customers and fans.
The first prize of the “Gimme Five!” campaign is a $150 gift certificate to Walnut Studiolo and it coincides with the release of the company’s first new product of the year and high five video. The Leather Drawer Pull Collection marks Walnut’s jump into home décor accessories, as Franklin returns to his architecture roots with a collection of drawer pulls and cabinet handles made from leather and wood. Designed in collaboration with San Francisco interior design firm Dehn Bloom Design, the rustic qualities of the materials blend well with traditional cabinets and interiors yet offer an eye-catching juxtaposition with more modern and contemporary designs. The leather softens with use, developing a natural patina and an inviting hand feel but remains durable and strong for many years.
