Kris Dahlgren named in Sporting Goods Business “40 Under Forty” Award
PORTLAND,Oregon April 5, 2013—Kris Dahlgren, President of West Linn, Oregon-based Dahlgren Footwear, was honored by Sporting Goods Business in their 6th annual “40 Under Forty” Awards. The honor, a yearly celebration of young executives from all corners of the sporting goods industry, recognizes 40 people who are making a difference in their field before they reach their 40th birthday, and are considered the next generation of leaders in this industry. The forty recipients were selected by a panel of SportsOneSource Media Group (publishers of Sporting Goods Business) analysts, editors and industry executives from more than 400 nominations received from around the sporting goods industry. This year’s inductees include executives from iconic companies like Nike, Reebok, Eddie Bauer, The North Face and the National Hockey League. 2013’s class of 40 under Forty will have their profiles in the May 2013 issue of SGB Magazine.
Kris Dahlgren has been an integral part of Dahlgren Footwear for nearly 20 years, and spent considerable time learning every facet of the business. Ms. Dahlgren was named President in 2010 and oversees daily operations of the company. Under Ms. Dahlgren’s leadership, Dahlgren Footwear has expanded its product mix beyond its core offerings of outdoor and athletic socks to include fashionable every day and casual models that have gained attention of high-end retailers via multiple fashion shoots, and buzzworthy websites like Made Collection.
When asked about the direction in which she’s leading the company, Kris responds, “I’m not interested in following anyone else. The way we build socks is totally unique, so the way they look, feel, and perform should be consistent with that—totally unique.
